Known
as the heart of the Olympic
Peninsula, Forks is a haven for nature lovers. Situated

as breathtaking alpine meadows, a rainforest, more than 200 mi (322 km)
of wild rivers and numerous beaches. The city got its name from the
forks in nearby rivers. Forks is one of the most rainiest cities in the
continental United
States,
however it remains a popular place for outdoor pursuits like sports
fishing and hiking. The city is an ideal base camp for those wanting to
visit nearby attractions like the Hoh
Rainforest and Olympic
National Park. The Forks
Timber Museum offers a fascinating look into the past of area
loggers and their tools of the trade, while the annual Old
Fashioned Fourth of July festivities puts the city in a
celebratory mood. Forks and nearby La
Push
have become well known, due to the popular teen book series, Twilight
by author Stephanie Meyers. Both are featured prominently throughout
the books.
